Senior Direct PI Underwriter
A brand new opportunity to join a highly innovative Insurer in this newly created role as Senior Direct PI Underwriter. You will join a growing commercial insurance business at an exciting stage of its evolution. This is a role with a strong strategic focus, offering the opportunity to influence underwriting decisions, portfolio performance, product development and digital transformation initiatives within a modern direct-to-customer insurance environment.
Working closely with senior leaders across underwriting, trading, product and governance, you will play a key role in shaping how underwriting operates within a digitally enabled insurance model. You will assess and manage referred Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers risks, provide technical underwriting expertise, support trading decisions and help ensure underwriting activity remains aligned to risk appetite, governance standards and commercial objectives. The role sits at the intersection of frontline trading teams, portfolio leadership and governance functions, making it a highly visible position with broad influence across the business.

Alongside day-to-day underwriting responsibilities, you will contribute to portfolio management activity by monitoring performance, analysing trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and supporting pricing, rating and product development initiatives. You will also provide underwriting input into digital transformation projects, including automation and AI-driven initiatives designed to improve underwriting efficiency, customer experience and trading effectiveness.

Key Requirements
- Strong experience in Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers insurance
- Solid background in commercial and referral underwriting
- Comfortable making complex underwriting decisions
- Operating within delegated authority
- Contributing to portfolio governance and performance discussions
- Experience of managing underwriting referrals
- Monitoring portfolio outcomes
- Working within robust underwriting controls frameworks
