Senior Professional Services Project Manager
An overview of this role
GitLab Senior Professional Services Project Managers manage complex projects from initiation through delivery and closure. In this role, you'll coordinate with cross-functional teams and our global customers to complete distinct projects on time and within budget. You'll use your experience managing information technology and software consulting projects and your knowledge of traditional and agile project management and software development methods. You'll also manage executive stakeholder communications, manage escalations, and help improve Professional Services project management practices.

- Manage large-scale commercial projects and executive stakeholder meetings and communications.
- Collaborate with GitLab Support, Engineering, and Product teams to resolve complex customer problems using GitLab technologies.
- Drive improvements to Professional Services project management tools, processes, procedures, and templates.
- Summarize key customer projects monthly and provide a summary for quarterly business reviews.
- Develop and manage delivery schedules, customer expectations, project scope, resources, status, risks, and issues for technical and consulting services.
- Manage customer escalations by coordinating with customers and GitLab stakeholders, including the executive team, Sales, and Technical Account Managers.
- Establish reliable, repeatable delivery processes, metrics, and operational procedures.
- Set and achieve forecast goals by aligning customers, Technical Architects, project engineers, partner consultants, and delivery partners.
What you’ll bring
- Experience managing complex information technology or software consulting projects for external customers from initiation through closure.
- Ability to manage project scope, schedules, resources, customer expectations, risks, issues, and multiple priorities while delivering concise executive-level status reports.
- Ability to build effective relationships with customer leaders, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and manage escalations.
- Ability to identify and resolve project challenges, motivate advisory teams and contributors, and mediate conflicts.
- Experience supporting timely revenue recognition and executing change orders when needed.
- Knowledge of project management and technical delivery methods for software, including Project Management Institute methodologies, agile or Scrum, the software development lifecycle, and project management or agile tools such as GitLab.
- Enterprise customer and Professional Services experience is a plus.
