Maternal Newborn Child Nutrition and Health (MNCNH) Team
This team focuses on eliminating preventable mortality and morbidity among women, newborns, and children in low-resource settings. Our portfolio of high-impact products targets critical biological vulnerabilities across pregnancy, child nutrition, death, and development—spanning drugs, foods, microbes, devices, algorithms, and AI-connected technologies. We partner with in-country teams to integrate local context into research, development, and scaling.

The Role
Senior Program Officer (Part-Time, 20 hrs/week) – This vital role will drive discovery, development, and introduction of high-impact prevention and treatment interventions for:
- Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (e.g., preeclampsia)
- Gestational diabetes
Reporting to: Manu Vatish, this is a part-time (20 hrs/week) London/remote (UK) role, with full benefits and unrestricted work authorization required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a disease-focused grant portfolio, from initial sourcing to reporting:
- Shape investment strategy in alignment with Foundation and country priorities
- Design research and oversee progress through the clinical pipeline
- Provide clinical and scientific leadership in:
- Maternal health biology, risk stratification, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment
- Partner with grantees, investigators, and internal teams to accelerate development into low-resource-scale pathways
- Ensure rigorous GCP, ethics, and accountability for research
- Bridge discovery, clinical, and implementation activities with the broader MNCNH agenda
- Advocate for policy and scale of evidence-based solutions
- Represent the Foundation externally at global meetings and stakeholder forums

Ideal Candidate
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD*, DrPH**, MD, OB/GYN, or equivalent) in a relevant field:
- *Physician scientists preferred
- Specialised expertise in:
- Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (especially preeclampsia) AND/OR
- Gestational diabetes
- Evidence-based clinical management and intervention development experience
- Maximum of 4 years of substantive senior-level experience working directly with:
- Research programs/gap analyses
- Low- and middle-income settings
- Stakeholder engagement with governments, academia, and industry
- Track record of demonstrating disease- or problem-focused strategic vision
- Strong GCP, ethics, and policy translation knowledge
Soft Skills
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
- Proven ability to manage complex partnerships
- High-level diplomacy and stakeholder management agility
