Senior Project Controls Manager
Location: RG7 4PR (between Reading and Basingstoke), with free onsite parking
Salary: £64,780 – £102,400 (based on suitability, qualifications, and experience)
Work Pattern:
- 9-day fortnight (every other Friday off)

AWE is seeking a Senior Project Controls Manager with deep experience in:
- Estimating
- Cost engineering
- Commercial management
- Project planning
In this pivotal role, you’ll serve as the primary advisor on project and programme performance, transforming complex challenges into actionable strategies that drive high-impact efficiencies. Key Responsibilities
Core Requirements:
- Manage the integration of all project controls disciplines (estimating, cost engineering, commercial, planning).
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships across teams and senior leadership.
- Conduct consolidated financial and non-financial performance analysis (risk, KPIs, opportunities).
- Advise senior stakeholders on performance improvements and cost-saving interventions.
- Be the single point of contact between Project/Programme Managers and project controls.

Bonus Experience (not exhaustive):
- Leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Navigating complex commercial/panel issues within projects.
- Developing Performance Measurement Baselines (PMB) (scope, time, cost, risk trackers).
- Shaping long-term business efficiencies through data-driven strategies.
- Implementing best-practice estimating and cost-control systems.
Requirements
Must-Have Background:
- A permanently established professional with 10+ years of experience in:
- Estimating, cost engineering, quantity surveying, commercial management, or project planning.
- Expertise in managing project controls from the ground up.
Preferable Capabilities:
- Demonstrated track record leading high-stakes project controls teams.
- Analytical rigour for financial/project performance highlighting risks, issues, and strategic upsides.
