We are partnering with a leading engineering consultancy specialising in mission-critical infrastructure to recruit a Senior Project Engineer – Mechanical. This role focuses on delivering retrofit and upgrade projects within live operational data centre environments across the UK and Europe.

You will play a key role in the design, specification and delivery of complex mechanical systems, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards. Working within live facilities, you will help maintain operational continuity while delivering critical engineering solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on major data centre programmes, lead multidisciplinary project delivery, mentor junior engineers and act as a trusted technical advisor to clients across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services upgrades within live data centre environments, including M&E upgrades, capacity increases, technology refreshes, phased refurbishments and lifecycle replacements
  • Develop retrofit-specific engineering strategies, including live system tie-ins, redundancy planning, outage management, staging strategies and resilience design
  • Conduct technical due diligence of existing facilities, including assessments of cooling, power and white space capacity
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, reports and tender documentation
  • Manage project scope, programme, budgets and contracts while identifying and mitigating technical and operational risks
  • Work closely with clients, contractors and suppliers to deliver projects with minimal operational disruption
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety and permit-to-work procedures within live environments
  • Mentor and support junior engineers
  • Contribute to business development activities, technical proposals and client presentations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
