A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Team Leader within the Grid Technologies Substations Project Management team, this role plays a key part in delivering substation projects for major clients across the UK & Ireland. Created to support business continuity and an expanding project portfolio, the position combines hands-on project oversight with people leadership. The role focuses on guiding and developing a team of project professionals, ensuring robust project governance throughout the full lifecycle, and managing commercial and stakeholder relationships. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the Team Leader ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project professionals by setting clear objectives, supporting performance development, and fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of substation projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Implement and maintain effective project governance, including robust planning, risk and opportunity management, and structured change control.
- Act as an escalation point for complex project challenges, supporting timely decision-making and effective issue resolution.
- Manage relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment, transparency, and successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by enhancing project management processes, team capability, and overall delivery performance.

What You Bring
- Significant experience in managing engineering projects, ideally within the energy, power transmission, or substation environment.
- Proven experience in leading and supervising professional project teams, with a focus on performance, development, and accountability.
- Strong capability in applying formal project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and full project lifecycle delivery.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness, including responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Well-developed stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills across internal and external interfaces.
- A relevant engineering degree is preferred, with a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered an advantage.
