Senior Project Engineer (Electrical) – IDP Project
Location: Sellafield site with travel to Hinton House or Hinton, including return trips to Sellafield.

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with an electrical bias to join our team and deliver exceptional, safe, and efficient project outcomes. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on technical leadership, driving delivery, and fostering strong relationships with customers and the supply chain.
About the Role
As Senior Project Engineer, you will take full ownership of the design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation of electrical elements across one or more projects. You will also actively contribute to overall programme success, commercial performance, and Perfect Delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Design
- Review, challenge, and influence designs to ensure buildability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Provide technical support on existing assets, proposed solutions, and design feasibility
- Lead technical, commercial, and site support for procurement teams during tender assessment
- Expedite subcontractor design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and programme targets
- Participate in HAZOP and HAZCOM activities

Delivery & Programme
- Manage the electrical delivery programme, ensuring accurate implementation and reporting
- Oversee procurement of materials and subcontract packages
- Lead and control subcontractor performance on site, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance
- Act as the Electrical Coordinator, coordinating safety on site
- Promote a strong safety and environmental culture among colleagues and subcontractors
Testing, Commissioning & Documentation
- Undertake and supervise M&E testing and commissioning activities
- Optimise plant/equipment and process performance against agreed parameters
- Produce and manage commissioning plans, O&M manuals, and project documentation
- Lead and participate in routine maintenance and operational activities
- Manage defects and corrective actions
- Provide technical advice to support asset management planning
Customer & Business Performance
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships, ensuring expectations and performance targets are met
- Drive Perfect Delivery outcomes across all electrical scopes
- Support continuous improvement across the project and business unit

Requirements
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- BTEC HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
- CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification
- CSCS Site Supervisor Gold Card
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Experience in materials procurement, subcontract management, and site installation
- Understanding of construction contracts and procedures
- Strong planning and time management skills, capable of balancing multiple projects
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions
- Strong technical knowledge and specialised understanding of electrical engineering
