SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER
SMART BUILDINGS | IoT | ENERGY DATA LONDON / HYBRID
Are you an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges rather than simply installing systems? Do you thrive on commissioning, troubleshooting and ensuring building data is accurate from sensor through to cloud? Would you like to help some of the UK's largest commercial real estate organisations reduce energy consumption and accelerate their sustainability goals?
An exciting opportunity has arisen with an innovative Smart Buildings technology business transforming the way commercial property owners collect, validate and use building energy data. Working with some of the UK's leading real estate organisations, you'll become the technical authority responsible for ensuring IoT metering projects are designed, delivered and commissioned to the highest possible standard.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll bridge the gap between project design, on-site delivery and high-quality building data.
THE ROLE:
- Lead technical due diligence and solution design for Smart Building and IoT metering projects
- Specify metering hardware, communication protocols and network architecture
- Oversee commissioning and validation of electricity, gas, water and heat metering systems
- Ensure accurate end-to-end data flow from field devices through to cloud platforms
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across installations
- Provide technical support during client workshops and project delivery
- Develop technical standards and quality assurance processes
- Train and support installation partners on hardware, commissioning and best practice
- Mentor a junior engineer and help build the future technical delivery team
- Travel to customer sites across the UK with occasional European travel

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
