About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer with substantial Electrical Engineering experience to join our team. Ideally, the candidate will have previously held a Lead or Senior Engineer role within the Electrical Engineering Discipline prior to transitioning into Project Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering Manager in developing:
- Project basis of design
- Engineering philosophies
- Key technical studies
- Novel technologies
- Value improvement practices
- Ensure alignment with contract terms and scope, clearly communicating requirements to the engineering staff.
- Prepare, issue, and maintain a project design basis document while treating changes as scope modifications, coordination required with multi-disciplinary input.
- Work with engineering disciplines to ensure readiness for project stage-gate reviews.
- Advocate KBR’s staged execution approach, aligning discipline sequencing to support project success.
- Collaborate with Project Controls to:
- Develop project schedules
- Resolve potential conflicts between disciplines
- Support mitigation strategies for parallel work needs
- Contribute to ITT package development, ensuring high quality through stakeholder engagement.
- Facilitate project workshops on:
- Lessons learnt
- Risk management
- Discipline-specific topics
- Stay updated with KBR Digital solutions and assist in their seamless implementation across projects.
- Support KBR Project Start-Up process, ensuring timely compliance with project workflow requirements.

Key Attributes and Skills
- Demonstrated expertise as a Project Engineer across multiple projects in various phases, including Front-End Engineering (FEED) and Detail Design.
- Commitment to career progression into Project Engineering Management.
- Experience developing scoping documents with multi-disciplinary inputs.
- Exhibits excellent teamwork, internal and external communication, and stakeholder management.
- Proven ability to adapt to shifting project priorities, delivering high-quality results within deadlines.
- Deep familiarity with standard project deliverables across phases, including interdependencies between trade disciplines.
- Knowledge of procurement processes, vendor coordination, and contractual record-keeping for audit trails.
- Experience resolving client-facing issues, addressing conflicting demands, and managing sensitive negotiations.
- Extensive experience working in lump sum environments, particularly in change management contexts.
- Electrical systems design expertise, adhering to technical specifications.
- Electrical interface management between packages, including:
- Generator Turbine Units (GTGs)
- Switchgear
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Microsoft Project experience.

Desirable Experience
- Vendor Package Management, particularly for:
- Electrical packages: Switchgear, ENMCS (Electrical Network Management Control Systems), PMS (Predictive Maintenance Systems)
- Multi-disciplinary packages with electrical interfaces, including:
- Captive generation plants (GTG, STG, cogen packages)
- Gas turbine/compressor packages with VFD-driven starters
- Large VFDs driving e-motor-driven compressors
- Prefabricated substations or e-house packages (supplied with MV/LV switchgear, VFDs, installed, pre-commissioned)
- Renewable generation (e.g., solar + BESS systems with controls and substations)
- UK Projects Execution experience
- Nuclear Project Execution experience
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng or MEng).
- Formal professional accreditation with a registered engineering institution or engineering council, or equivalent qualifications.
