Location: Hybrid working model with regular travel to Yorkshire Water sites and offices.
Position: Permanent, 37 hours per week (Monday–Friday).

Within this, Specialist Projects oversees end-to-end engineering and construction for Clean Water, Wastewater, and Networks, managed by cross-disciplinary engineers.
Role Overview
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will:
Core Responsibilities
🔹 Lead technical supervision of a team of Project Technicians 🔹 Technically manage and coordinate design and safe delivery of MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Automation) projects 🔹 Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, fulfilling Principal Contractor responsibilities alongside supporting Client and Principal Designer 🔹 Uphold Yorkshire Water’s engineering specifications and associated documentation 🔹 Drive health & safety excellence, risk management, and work control to align with the company’s safety policy 🔹 Embed robust financial management and commercial awareness in all business decisions
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential Criteria:
📌 Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent (ONC/HNC/BTEC in MEICA fields)
- ICA (Instrumentation & Control Automation) apprenticeship qualification
📌 Technical Competencies:
- Proficiency in control of works (permit systems, POWRA, RAMS)
- Broad electrical & MEICA equipment engineering experience with built-in problem-solving skills
- Deep understanding of CDM regulations and practical application
- Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and site supervision
- ATEX standard compliance knowledge

📌 Process & Compliance Knowledge:
- Formal SI/ICA project management experience (URS, SRS, P&IDs, FDS, FAT, SAT, O&Ms)
- Expertise in SI/ICA standards and best practices
- Ability to optimise SCADA & automated systems in complex landscapes
Desirable (but not mandatory):
✔ Experience in regulated utilities or major asset delivery environments ✔ Background in commercially or regulatory-driven roles ✔ Knowledge of BSEN standards (61511, 13849, 62061) and BS7671 ✔ Familiarity with:
- Schneider PLC, Mitsubishi (IEC 61131), and Allen Bradley (SCADA/HMI)
- Process safety documentation (Risk Assessments, Safety Audits) ✔ Recognisable experience with modern utilities infrastructure
Working Arrangements
Flexible hybrid approach:
- Primary requirement: 1–2 in-office days/week
- Site visits as needed for collaboration, training, or project deadlines
