We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join Yorkshire Water's Asset Delivery team, helping to deliver exceptional service to our 5.4 million+ customers and protect the environment.

Programme Delivery Overview
Programme Delivery is responsible for:
- Delivering the Capital Construction Programme through:
- Intelligent Totex (Total Expenditure) solutions and collaboration
- Sustainable out-performance in water/wastewater/environmental projects
- Commercial and contractual excellence with the supply chain
- World-class contract management processes
The purpose is to achieve best value for money by:
- Reducing cycle time in project delivery
- Maintaining/enhancing service standards
- Embracing a collaborative supply chain approach
- Ensuring safety and risk compliance
- Out-performing targets in collaborative plans
Specialist Projects
A key stream of Programme Delivery, led by multi-discipline engineers, managing end-to-end design and delivery of engineering schemes in:
- Clean Water
- Wastewater
- Networks

Your Responsibilities
As Senior Project Engineer, you will:
- Provide technical supervision and line management of Project Technicians
- Technically manage and coordinate design for safe delivery of engineered SI/ICA (Signal, Instrumentation and Control) projects within the Specialist Projects portfolio
- Ensure CDM (Construction Design and Management) compliance and provide FD (Facilities Department) design support, including acting as Principal Contractor and assisting in Client & Principal Designer responsibilities
- Maintain adherence to Yorkshire Water engineering specifications and all associated documentation
- Drive health and safety excellence, including:
- Risk management
- Work control compliance with YW Safety Policy
- Ensure robust financial management and commercial awareness guide all business decisions
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential:
- Qualification:
- ICA-based apprenticeship or an Engineering degree or equivalent (ONC/HNC/BTEC)
- Technical expertise:
- Confident in control of works (e.g., permits, POWRA, RAMS)
- Deep understanding of MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Automation) equipment and its impacts
- Experience with electrical/SI/ICA systems to deliver engineered solutions
- Thorough knowledge of CDM regulations and their application in projects
- Strong grasp of design and project delivery, including:
- Hazard identification
- Risk assessment
- Site supervision
- Ability to respond to detailed technical and non-technical queries
- Experience with ATEX standards
- Process familiarity:
- Application of formal SI/ICA project procedures:
- URS (User Requirements Specification)
- SRS (System Requirements Specification)
- P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
- FDS (Functional Design Specification)
- FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
- SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
- O&Ms (Operation & Maintenance manuals)
- Application of formal SI/ICA project procedures:

Detailed standards and automation experience:
- SI & ICA best practice and standards
- Optimisation of SI control systems in complex environments
Essential Industry Experience:
- Proven track record in regulated utility or major asset management/delivery roles
- Commercially oriented/regulated environment acquaintance
- Knowledge of BS7671 (Electrical Installation), BSEN 61511 (Functional Safety), BS EN 13849 (Safety-Related Control Systems), BS EN62061 (Functional Safety) and other relevant industry standards
Technical Preferences (beneficial but not mandatory):
- Experience with:
- Schneider PLC
- Mitsubishi (IEC 61131)
- Allen Bradley HMI/PLC systems & software
- iFix SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software
- Understanding of process safety activities (e.g., Engineering Risk Assessment/Safety Reviews)
