Purpose of the Role
The Industrial Project Manager will develop, recommend, and execute cost-effective food manufacturing projects and process improvements within defined product requirements, sustainability guidelines, and customer-led priorities. A high-impact staff role at site level, this position oversees local capital projects—from conceptual planning to full-scale installation, training, and operational handover.
Key focus areas:
- Managing end-to-end capital projects, including collaboration with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
- Ensuring project viability through scope, budget, and timeline management.
- Smooth integration into plant operations and compliance with customer standards.

Project Leadership & Execution
- Drive industrial project management for food manufacturing upgrades:
- Collaborate with suppliers, internal teams, and customers to define technical specifications.
- Lead project oversight from initial design through fatigues (functional acceptance testing) and start-up validation.
- Plan and implement engineering initiatives, defining:
- Project scope, milestones, and workflows.
- Requirements for contractors while aligning with plant and customer needs.
Comprehensive Project Governance
- Manage full project development, from Frontend Engineering Design (FEED) to vertical start-up (VSU).
- Ensure agile execution across all project phases, including:
- Commissioning and validation (CQV) to guarantee smooth deployment.
- Bid packages, schedule, and quality reporting fronts.
- Coordinate project deliverables, ensuring adherence to:
- Budget, deadlines, cash flow forecasts, and site-level budget control.
- Master plan updates and yearly alignment with business and supply chain strategy.
SUSTAINABILITY & QUALITY Focus
- Review product designs for:
- Compliance with engineering principles, sustainability frameworks, ergonomics, and customer contract terms.
- Maximising plant efficiency, safety, and employee wellbeing with sustainable manufacturing practices.
Training & Process Development
- Oversee launch processes for new/upgraded equipment:
- Define goals, coordinate team training, and evaluate process outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Lead manufacturing R&D, including:
- Research and optimisation of production flow, assembly, and equipment safety.

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Interface as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Project Management, Early Start-Up, and VSU, mentoring junior staff.
- Manage relationship with Business Unit leadership for:
- Capital planning alignment.
- Alignment with company-wide project standards.
Requirements
This role demands industrial sector expertise with project-driven engineering and operations frameworks. Key attributes include:
- 10+ years in manufacturing or food processing, with proven track record in capable project management.
- Leadership experience in FEED, detailed design, FAT/SAT protocols, and VSU execution for food-grade environments.
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep knowledge of CAPEX processes, budget control, and cost analytics.
- Sustainability acumen and ability to integrate environmental KPIs into projects.
- Technical proficiency ensuring compliance with:
- Product safety standards.
- Customer contractual requirements.
- Critical-thinking approach to troubleshoot process inefficiencies and risks.
- Proficiency in industrial software (e.g., project management tools) and familiarity with handling supplier RFPs.
