We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Manager to join our team delivering works on the Great Grid Partnership (GGP) Framework.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of major electricity transmission projects, with a particular focus on overhead line reconductoring schemes.
As Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of large-scale, complex, multidisciplinary construction projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Collaborating closely with clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams, you will drive operational excellence and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of large-scale and complex multidisciplinary construction projects from conception through to completion.
- Manage all aspects of the contract to ensure successful project outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, local communities, and project partners.
- Promote and maintain a positive, continuously improving health, safety, and wellbeing culture across project teams.
- Drive Morgan Sindall's Perfect Delivery objectives, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed quality, cost, and programme targets.
- Develop, forecast, and monitor project performance against key project objectives and KPIs.
- Effectively manage project budgets, ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded and costs are controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and maximise opportunities in line with company procedures.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, specifications, and company policies.
- Lead project teams, providing clear direction, motivation, and support to achieve elevated levels of performance and compliance.
- Engage and consult with stakeholders and the public as required to facilitate successful project delivery.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of resources and maximise value within contract parameters.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating customer feedback, supplier engagement and lessons learned.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering major construction or infrastructure projects within a Tier 1 contractor environment.
- Experience managing overhead line construction or reconductoring projects.
- Strong project management experience covering programme, cost, quality, and risk management.
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering, construction, or project management discipline.
- CSCS Card holder.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging clients, supply chain partners, and external stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of construction industry practices, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage project budgets and financial performance.
- Effective negotiation, communication and influencing skills, including the ability to present robust business cases to senior stakeholders.
- Initiative-taking, purposeful and committed to delivering excellence.
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Experience working on National Grid or electricity transmission infrastructure projects.
- Advanced understanding of project controls, risk management, and continuous improvement methodologies.

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
