Senior Project Manager — Affinity Water AMP8 Framework

Location: Rickmansworth | Company: Galliford Try

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the Affinity Water AMP 8 team at Galliford Try.

Run a portfolio of Clean Water construction projects across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Lead four site-based Project Managers, work with Affinity Water and a wide delivery network, and shape how AMP8 gets built on the ground.

This is a leadership role, not a caretaker one. You will build teams, develop people, and own delivery from design through handover.

The Role

Planning, Design & Pre-Construction

  • Work with designers to make sure schemes are safe, buildable, and deliverable to programme
  • Run collaborative workshops that solve problems before they hit site
  • Clear every regulatory and pre-commencement requirement before start
  • Set up site offices and compounds on time
  • Push innovation, technology, and modern methods where they add value

Commercial & Delivery

  • Partner with Commercial and Risk to manage cost, opportunity, and risk
  • Help select supply chain partners who match project values
  • Lead construction teams and partners to hit budget, programme, quality, and scope
  • Plan resource across the full lifecycle, including demobilisation and redeployment

Stakeholder, Performance & Reporting

  • Support recruitment and onboarding in line with resource plans
  • Work with the Performance Team on CPF/Balanced Scorecard scoring
  • Keep reporting accurate and on time, internally and externally
  • Adapt your communication style across a broad stakeholder base

Leadership & Culture

  • Direct a portfolio of projects with clear accountability
  • Build diverse teams where people feel safe, respected, and able to do their best work
  • Create and hold a Knowingly Safe working environment
  • Champion an inclusive F.R.E.D.I.E culture
  • Coach direct reports through regular feedback and challenge

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

  • Apply CDM 2015 consistently across every project
  • Make health, safety, and wellbeing a shared responsibility across teams
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and embed the learning
  • Appoint and support a Temporary Works Coordinator

What You Bring

  • CSCS card (or willing to get one)
  • HNC, degree, or equivalent experience in construction
  • PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent — qualification or practical experience
  • Track record managing complex construction projects or portfolios
  • Solid grip on CDM 2015 and site H&S
  • Working knowledge of NEC and/or IChemE contracts
  • Comfortable in Office 365 for collaboration and reporting
  • Experience building inclusive, high-performing teams
  • A collaborative leadership style and clear, adaptable communication
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and make sound calls under pressure
  • Commitment to working safely and ethically
