This position reports to: Head of Project Management Office
About the Role As Senior Project Manager, you'll take ownership of the successful delivery of medium to large-scale, technically complex projects that help ABB’s Energy Industries customers improve productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. You’ll provide the leadership needed to deliver outstanding customer outcomes while balancing commercial performance, quality, safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you’ll play a key role in upholding ABB’s reputation for innovation, integrity, and world-class project delivery, while driving continuous improvement and creating lasting value for our customers and the business.

Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world by driving real impact through complex projects:
- Lead the successful delivery of technically complex projects from handover through to completion:
- Take ownership of planning, execution, and overall project performance
- Build, inspire, and develop high-performing project teams:
- Through coaching, mentoring, and fostering an environment where people thrive
- Drive projects to successful outcomes by managing:
- Scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and cash flow
- Commercial and operational objectives
- Partner with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders as their trusted point of contact:
- Ensure exceptional communication throughout the lifecycle
- Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate risks:
- Capitalise on opportunities to maximise value for ABB and its customers
- Ensure projects meet quality, governance, and contractual compliance standards:
- Apply industry best practices at every stage
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and commercial teams:
- Procure services and materials
- Manage project changes
- Support contract delivery
- Champion continuous improvement:
- Capture lessons learned
- Enhance project delivery methods and PMO standards
- Lead by example in promoting ABB’s values:
- Uphold integrity and compliance
- Prioritise safety:
- Foster Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) cultures
- Ensure well-being of employees, contractors, and customers

Work model: Hybrid (#LI-hybrid) from the St Neots location
Qualifications for the Role
- Significant experience in project management:
- Proven track record in managing full project lifecycle (scope, schedule, cost control)
- Vendor/subcontractor management
- Strong leadership capability:
- Experience managing teams
- Influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Collaborative and solution-oriented mindset:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced planning, scheduling, and organisational skills
- Relevant qualifications:
- Engineering or technical degree
- Recognised project management certification
- Commitment to professional development in project management
- Willingness to travel and engage face-to-face with customers
