Senior Project Manager

Senior Project Manager – Nuclear Decommissioning & Demolition

Location: South East England

Role Overview Aureos is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major nuclear decommissioning and demolition project. This high-accountability role demands strong leadership, technical expertise in demolition methodologies, and experience managing health, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The project operates under an NEC4 contract, requiring meticulous planning, risk assessment, and stakeholder coordination.


Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery, from planning through execution and close-out, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient decommissioning and demolition.
  • Drive performance across HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality), programme, and commercial outcomes.
  • Oversee demolition and dismantling activities, including hazardous materials handling and waste management, ensuring strict adherence to radiological, structural, and environmental safety protocols.

Technical & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure full compliance with:
    • Nuclear safety case requirements
    • Regulatory standards
    • Site licence conditions
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering, construction, radiological protection, and commercial specialists.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and specialist demolition contractors, ensuring safe systems of work and high-quality execution.
  • Plan, programme, and sequence complex demolition works efficiently.

Contract & Risk Management

  • Administer project delivery in line with NEC4 contractual obligations, including:
    • Early warnings
    • Compensation events
    • Programme submissions
  • Implement robust risk management processes—particularly for radiological, structural, and environmental hazards.
  • Maintain accurate cost, risk, and performance reporting for stakeholders.

Stakeholder & Client Relations

  • Act as the primary interface between Aureos and key stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Foster collaborative, safety-focused cultures and drive continuous improvement.
  • Resolve delivery challenges and programme delays through proactive decision-making.
  • Ensure teams are competent, trained, and aligned with project objectives and behaviours.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation (cost tracking, compliance records, performance metrics).

Required Skills & Experience

Technical & Professional Competencies

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Asbestos expertise—knowledge of legislation, survey, and management requirements.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in:
    • Major construction projects
    • Complex multi-disciplinary or infrastructure projects
    • Demolition/deconstruction projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and experience working in highly regulated environments.

Soft Skills & Leadership
