Role Description
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be accountable for the delivery of one or more complex projects, or a number of medium‑scale projects running in parallel. You will operate with a significant degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for day‑to‑day commercial performance, client relationships, delivery controls and people leadership within your projects.
You will provide leadership to project teams, manage delivery risks and issues, and work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure Arcadis’ delivery standards, quality objectives and commercial interests are met.
Key Accountabilities
Project Delivery & Governance
Lead the delivery of projects to agreed scope, programme, cost, quality and safety requirements. Establish appropriate project delivery plans, controls and governance arrangements in line with Arcadis standards. Manage delivery risks and issues, escalating where appropriate and implementing agreed mitigation measures. Lead project reviews and contribute to assurance and reporting activities.
Financial & Commercial Management
Manage project finances, including budgets, forecasts, cashflow and WIP, within agreed authority levels. Administer contractual requirements and support effective commercial risk management. Lead or contribute to the management of variations and fee changes with clients and suppliers. Support optimisation of project financial performance through effective cost control and resource management.

Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary point of contact for clients at project level, building and maintaining effective working relationships. Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve day‑to‑day delivery issues in a professional and timely manner. Identify opportunities to enhance client value and support repeat or follow‑on work.
People Leadership & Development
Line manage and support Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers or project resources as required. Provide coaching, feedback and development support to build capability within the project team. Promote positive team behaviours and an inclusive, collaborative project culture.
Risk, Safety, Health & Sustainability
Ensure proactive management of delivery, commercial and operational risks within projects. Promote and uphold safety, health, environmental and wellbeing standards across all project activities. Support the integration of sustainable and responsible practices into project delivery.
Digital & Continuous Improvement
Encourage effective use of project management systems, data and digital tools. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the sharing of lessons learnt.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience managing medium to complex projects within an infrastructure, rail or built environment context. Proven ability to manage project teams and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs. Sound commercial awareness with experience managing project finances and contractual requirements. Strong client‑facing and communication skills. Chartered status or progression towards chartership with a recognised professional body (APM, ICE or equivalent).
