Senior Project Manager – Gas Transmission Asset Upgrades
United Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead key Gas Transmission Asset Upgrade projects within our fast-paced and strategic organisation. The successful candidate will guide a Design & Build initiative, delivering a 15 MW gas turbine-driven Compressor installation on an existing client site at the Gloucestershire & Worcestershire border.
Initial working arrangements include time split between our Warrington office and our design partner offices in Woking, with flexibility for hybrid working during the design phase. During construction, the role will require full-time on-site presence.
About the Role
You will play a pivotal role in managing project execution, stakeholder relationships, and commercial performance, ensuring:
- On-time, on-budget delivery within contract obligations
- Strategic alignment of design partners with project timelines
- Effective risk and change management
- Sustainable, profit-driven project outcomes
- Compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Sub-contractor selection and oversight
Subscription to hybrid work during the design stage transitions to on-site construction-based leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Compliance
- Uphold contract terms, ensuring delivery of work within specifications, timelines, and budgets
- Proactively manage design partners, holding them accountable for milestone deliveries against the project programme
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including:
- Risk Register & Issue Log
- Daily Logs, Project Schedules, and Budgets
- Governance & Client Approval Reports

Stakeholder & Client Management
- Build trusted relationships with clients, designers, and stakeholders, facilitating aligned expectations
- ** Liaise effectively** with clients, attending meetings, events, and providing clear presentations
- Lead project communications, recording and distributing meeting minutes to maintain transparency
Commercial & Financial Oversight
- Monitor project profitability, supporting cost variance reports (CVRs) and forecasting monthly turnover
- Identify opportunities while managing risks to maximise financial outcomes
- Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors on pricing adjustments, cost optimisation, and risk mitigation strategies
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)
- Lead health & safety initiatives, developing plans and ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations
- Attend HSE meetings, conduct audits, and set ethical safety standards for all team members
- Take ownership of SHEQ compliance with company directives
Subcontract Management
- Assess and select subcontractors, evaluating financial stability and delivery capabilities
- Conduct regular evaluation to ensure work quality and safety standards throughout project execution
- Agree packaged scopes with specialist subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals

Travel & Flexibility
- Regular travel across the UK required for meetings, site visits, and stakeholder engagements
- Alternative working arrangements available during the design phase, transitioning to on-site presence for construction
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in construction, energy, or engineering with proven proficiency in Design & Build frameworks
- Preferable industry knowledge of gas systems and process engineering, though transferable qualifications acceptable
- Demonstrated commercial acumen, particularly in scope management, forecasting, and risk mitigation
- Working familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations and the designer/principal contractor roles
- Strong project experience in a regulated utility or energy environment (gas projects an advantage)

- Exceptional communication skills—ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Strong replicable problem-solving with a focus on efficiency and quality
- Professional full UK driving licence
- Experience delivering complex projects in challenging regulatory environments
