BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.
Role
The Project Manager – Owner’s Scope (Engineering Partner Support) will support the delivery of one of our major clients engineering activities by working closely with the Senior Project Manager and the appointed Engineering Partner responsible for Owner’s Scope engineering.
This role provides coordination, oversight, and project delivery support across engineering workstreams that underpin the SMR programme. This includes activities such as:
- Requirements development
- Interface management
- Owner’s Engineering review cycles
- Design assurance and verification
- Quality and technical documentation management
The Project Manager will play a key supporting role in a complex, multidisciplinary environment, ensuring effective communication, structured delivery, and efficient management of engineering tasks delegated by the Senior Project Manager.
This is a vital role in a First of a Kind (FOAK) UK nuclear project, requiring strong project coordination skills, excellent stakeholder engagement, and an ability to operate within regulated, technically complex environments.
Principal Accountabilities
- Support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of all Owner’s Scope engineering activities.
- Assist in coordinating the engineering partner’s workstreams, ensuring alignment with project milestones, scope, and quality expectations.
- Manage day-to-day project delivery activities, including progress tracking, technical documentation flow, meeting coordination, and follow-up actions.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of project schedules, risk registers, interface logs, and reporting dashboards.
- Coordinate design review cycles, gathering inputs, consolidating comments, and ensuring outputs are issued in accordance with governance requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication between the engineering partner and internal GBN teams (e.g., safety case, licensing, programme controls, nuclear island, turbine island).
- Monitor the engineering partner’s delivery performance, highlighting risks, issues, and emerging concerns to the Senior Project Manager.
- Ensure compliance with GBN governance, engineering assurance procedures, and documentation standards.
- Support procurement and contract management activities related to the engineering partner where required.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive working environment, enabling multidisciplinary teams to work efficiently and transparently.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities focused on improving engineering delivery, documentation quality, and communication processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
