Senior Project Manager – Utility Scale Solar & BESS
Reading | Hybrid (60/40)
A leading UK renewable energy developer and independent power producer is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of its rapidly growing utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) portfolio.
With over 1GW of renewable assets already energised and an ambitious multi-GW pipeline across the UK and Europe, this is an opportunity to join a well-established business with development, construction, operations and energy trading all managed in-house.
The Role
Reporting into the EPC Director, you'll take ownership of multiple utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects from late-stage development through to commercial operation. Acting as the Client Project Manager, you'll coordinate internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of multiple utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects simultaneously.
- Manage EPC contractors and key suppliers throughout construction and commissioning.
- Own project programmes, budgets, risks and reporting.
- Coordinate engineering, planning, commercial, finance and asset management teams.
- Manage stakeholder relationships including DNOs, ICPs, local authorities and landowners.
- Oversee commissioning, energisation and successful handover into operations.
- Ensure compliance with HSEQ standards, CDM regulations and contractual obligations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
