Senior Project Manager – Power Sector (National Grid Partnership)


About the Role

Expanded is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to join our Power Sector team, working in partnership with Laing O’Rourke as construction partner for National Grid’s Great Grid Partnership.


Role & Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to achieving safety targets and maintaining zero tolerance of unsafe working practices and occurrences.
  • Support the delivery of the sub-project to the client within:
    • Budget
    • Quality Assurance standards
    • On-programme milestones
    • Stringent safety parameters
  • Collaborate with the planning team to develop detailed, accurate short-term programmes of work.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on progress against planned schedules.
  • Promote innovation, adopting new ideas from within the business and the workforce.
  • Align day-to-day resource requirements with construction teams, ensuring optimal utilisation.
  • Interface with construction managers and section managers to:
    • Share best practice
    • Ensure effective resource utilisation
  • Monitor external changes to work plans and report impactful adjustments.
  • Lead section meetings to review:
    • Safety
    • Quality
    • Progress
    • Design integration
  • Ensure effective implementation of Laing O’Rourke project management systems and procedures.

Strategic & Governance Roles

  • Contribute to the contract review process.
  • Chair monthly safety committee meetings, including:
    • Taking minutes
    • Distributing action items
    • Following up on all actions and compliance

Requirements

  • Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • Experience: 10–15 years in project management or relevant engineering Construction.
