About the Role
This is an opportunity to progress your career within project management, joining our Manchester team dedicated to infrastructure, utilities, and highways projects. If you have 10+ years of experience in managing large/complex projects and are aiming for a senior leadership role, this position is for you.

| Procurement & Delivery | Ensuring procurement strategies optimise performance and earliest opportunities. Hands-on definition and optimisation of procurement. |
| Operations & Finance | Managing fee structures (petty cash, retainers, incentive schemes) and commercial risk management to support cash flow. |
Main Purpose of the Role
- Lead Project Management Commissions: Take end-to-end ownership of large/complex projects (typically £10m–£25m), ensuring delivery within time, cost, quality, and client objectives.
- Client Interface: Act as the key point of contact, aligning projects with client visions, managing expectations, and driving operational success.
- Strategic Deliverance: Adapt to client needs, secure value, reduce risk, and transform challenges into aligned solutions.

- Average project budget: £10m–£25m (advisory projects may exceed this).
- Complexity: Multi-stakeholder, cross-disciplinary, with high risk & reward profiles.
- Type: Infrastructure, utilities, highways, urban regeneration, and capital intakes.

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities
- Client Advocacy & Strategy (Critical At-Risk Projects & Private Client Projects):
- Develop financial savings strategies (e.g., energy market),
- Navigate POST settlements, commencement/corrections, and client exit negotiations.
- Early Contractor Involvement (ECI): Employ techniques to drive project acceleration while managing margins.
- Exit Events (FEED): Manage deployments of close-out reassurances.
Project Governance & Operations (Consultancy Operative Roles)
- Execute all appointment responsibilities for projects currently under management.
- Safeguard Justifications through Carter pilots.
Key Accountabilities
Core Managerial Areas

Project Strategy & Governance
- Advise on strategic internationally best-practice solutions tailored to individual client activations.
- Define and maintain project requirements, success criteria (time, cost, technical, performance), and approval structures.
- Develop and implement end-to-end project governance, including process/escrow systems.

Planning & Execution
- Produce and maintain **activity schedules, master plans, and performance metrics (KPIs)).
- Develop and allocate resource plans, managing procurement needs/providrors where TTP model is applied.
- Lead cross-functional teams, ensuring adherence to organisational policies (e.g., Crowe UK).

Risk & Change Management
- Continuous risk identification/assessment; develop mitigation strategies, update risk registers, and escalate risks appropriately.
- Streamline ES kuitenkin support for project optimisation.

Operational Control
- Consolidate all internal records preparator to monthly chargeable activities-production.

Financial Prospective
- Guide budget development, monitor forecast/actual costs vs. targets using cost management methodologies.
- Support fee methodologies to improve profitability ('currently manually utilised, work stream progress').

Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and third-parties via combinations of meetings, presentations, reports, and verbal updates.
Health & Safety (HSE) & Environmental Roles
- Proactively identify and advise on HSE/environmental risks.
- Develop quality control plans, including VFO reports aligning with client-defined success measures.

Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Professional Certification: Degree preferred; ideally Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years managing £100m+ schemes within utilities and infrastructure sectors.
- Accreditation: NEC: ECC Project Manager preferred.
- Chartered Membership (inachelorcommended): APM, ICE, or RICS.
- Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management abilities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Senior Project Managers will be evaluated based on:
- Efficiency & Quality – Timely delivery within budget, scope, quality standards.
- Client Satisfaction – Alignment with client objectives/conditions of appointment.
- Team Leadership – Effective cross-functional team management, driving collaboration.
- Relationships – Strong prevalent relationships with clients and agencies.
- Line Management – Balanced workload allocation, constructive feedback provision.
- Commercial Impact – Identification/pursuit of business development and upsell opportunities.
- Fiduciary Responsibilities – Accurate financial KPI monitoring/reporting including cash flow & budget adherence.
- Information-Standards Compliance – Reliable documentation/knowledge retention across projects.
