About the Role
Working in Central South, this role is for experienced Project Managers looking to transition into a senior position, developing their career through leadership of industry-leading infrastructure projects in transportation, utilities, and highways.
Main Purpose
- Lead Project Management Commissions, ensuring end-to-end service delivery for large or complex projects.
- Act as the primary client interface, guaranteeing project alignment with time, cost, and quality targets.
- Scope of work involves projects broadly ranging from £10m to £25m (advisory-based projects may exceed this limit).
Key Accountabilities
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Advising:
- Guide high-level decision-making at project inception, proposing optimal strategies to meet client objectives.
- Define project requirements and success criteria (time, cost, technical, and performance parameters).
- Governance & Planning:
- Establish and maintain project governance structures, processes, and systems.
- Prepare and manage activity schedules (including the master project plan).
- Oversee procurement, resource allocation, and budget control.
- Monitor costs vs. forecasts and adjust resource plans as needed.
- Leadership & Alignment:
- Direct and facilitate cross-functional teams for cohesive project execution.
- Implement performance management techniques, including KPIs.
- Manage change control processes to adapt dynamically to evolving project needs.
- Stakeholder and Client Management:
- Serve as the chief client liaison, ensuring open lines of communication through meetings and written reports.
- Identify and mitigate risks (technical, financial, or external).
- Advise clients on health & safety, environmental impact, and compliance (including SOX protocols where applicable).
- Quality & Reporting:
- Lead planning and execution across quality, safety, health, and environmental management.
- Deliver formal project reports, summarising progress and addressing evolution in project scope/performance.

Additional Metrics for Success
- Deliver projects that reflect flawless quality, timely execution, and budget discipline.
- Ensure client satisfaction and alignment with appointment conditions.
- Foster collaboration with clients and cross-functional partners.
- Successfully manage day-to-day line responsibilities (as needed).
- Identify business development opportunities, including up-selling within existing client relationships.
- Sustain the internal financial health of projects, reviewing data and monitoring performance.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or related fields) is ideal.
- Experience:
- Hands-on experience managing large-scale projects (at least £100m).
- Proven track record in infrastructure, transport, or highways sectors.
- Professional Certifications (preferred):
- Chartered/qualified with ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers), APM (Association for Project Management), RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), etc.
