Senior Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.
What will you do?
The CWA is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Backfill) to play a pivotal role in the delivery of one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. Working within the Main Civil Works (MCW) team, this role will lead the planning, technical development and delivery of a major backfill package involving approximately 3 million m³ of material across the Sizewell C site.
The successful candidate will be accountable for:
- Leading the pre-construction planning and delivery of the Backfill package within Main Civil Works.
- Collaborating with design, engineering and delivery teams to develop safe, sustainable and buildable solutions for permanent and temporary works.
- Supporting the development of 3D and 4D construction models, validating construction methodologies, sequencing and programme assumptions.
- Contributing to technical decision-making on material suitability, site trials and innovative backfill solutions.
- Managing project budgets, cost forecasts and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leading procurement activities, including defining scopes of work, tender processes, subcontractor selection and contract award.
- Developing delivery strategies and Project Execution Plans to support successful mobilisation and execution.
- Driving safe, timely and high-quality project delivery while maintaining programme and budget performance.
- Managing quality assurance activities and supporting the development of inspection strategies and teams.
- Identifying, managing and resolving project risks, issues and interfaces across the wider Alliance.
- Ensuring contractual obligations, deliverables and stakeholder requirements are achieved.
- Promoting lessons learned, continuous improvement and collaborative working across the programme.

What are we looking for?
- Extensive expertise in excavation, earthworks and backfill activities on major construction projects.
- Significant experience leading project teams on large-scale civil engineering programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams and departments.
- Membership of APM, PMI or a similar professional project management body.
- CSCS PQP Card and/or CSCS Black Managers Card.
