Senior Project Manager - Business Improvement (Fixed Term, 12 Months)

About the Role

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine ambition’s boundaries. Our values shape how we consult and define the candidates we’re seeking.

Position: Senior Project Manager - Business Improvement (Fixed Term, 12 months) ** Programme:** Major Nuclear Construction Programme (MNCP) at HMNB Devonport

This role will see you take a leadership position in driving strategic business improvement initiatives within a complex, highly regulated environment. Your expertise will enhance programme performance, operational efficiency, and a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll work alongside programme teams, senior leaders, and key stakeholders to deliver one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.

Critical Note: Security Clearance Mandatory

Due to the defence nature of this project, candidates must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the identification, development, and delivery of strategic business improvement initiatives across the programme.
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity improvements, and cost reduction through structured methodologies.
  • Oversee business improvement projects from concept development through to implementation and benefits realisation.
  • Develop and embed KPIs, performance frameworks, and reporting mechanisms to measure programme success.
  • Produce robust business cases and investment justifications to secure funding and support key decisions.
  • Apply data analysis, root cause methodologies, and industry best-practice tools to recognise improvement opportunities.
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Support governance, reporting frameworks, and senior leadership engagement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and organisational standards.
  • Facilitate organisational change and stakeholder engagement, driving adoption of improvement initiatives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
