Job Description: Defence Sector Project Manager
The Midlands team is expanding within the Defence sector—one of our fastest-growing regions, driven by client demand. We are seeking an established Project Manager with a military/defence background or aspirations to join our growing team and support high-profile clients.
Key Objectives
Your role will focus on influencing and supporting successful client project delivery through:
- Defining and interpreting the scope of work in collaboration with the project team
- Selecting and implementing optimum programme and project delivery strategies for business success
- Ensuring programme/project alignment with client business needs and strategic context
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Developing, refining, and monitoring schedules and cost information, identifying variances, and analysing corrective actions
- Overseeing technical, commercial, and financial support functions to ensure project success
- Preparing and securing business cases with approvals
- Conducting Gateway reviews to assess project progression
- Managing timely and effective change control processes
- Producing clear status reports, dashboards, and updates
- Maintaining project plans and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)

Key Responsibilities
- Drive efficient project delivery through rigorous planning, monitoring, and control
- Support high-impact programmes to ensure client outcomes align with long-term goals
- Act as a .point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring coordination among technical and commercial functions
- Coordinate with specialist teams, including financial, technical controls, and procurement services
Requirements & Qualifications
Expected Academics & Compliance
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (engineering, project management, or related field)
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential for some Defence-related project locations)
Preferred Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM)
- Security Clearance (or eligibility for clearance)
- Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) Practitioner or APMP certification
- Certified Project Management Associate
- PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification

Industry-Specific Skills
Proven experience in Defence/Public Sector Construction or equivalent sectors is highly desirable.
