Job Description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is redefining how transport networks are designed, delivered, and experienced. As a leading global consultancy with over 80 years of engineering excellence, we work on some of the UK's most high-profile infrastructure programmes across public and private sectors.

We are looking for a Project Manager to play a key role within our growing partnership in Herefordshire. Whilst we offer flexible working policies, this role would require you to be based in our client’s office in Hereford a minimum of 2 days per week. This is a unique opportunity to work client-side, embedded within a collaborative delivery environment, where your decisions directly shape outcomes for communities.

As a Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of highway improvement and maintenance schemes, working within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and specialists. You'll take ownership of project performance, stakeholder engagement, and delivery excellence, ensuring programmes are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards.

Your role

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of work packages within a infrastructure programme.
  • Provide expert project and programme leadership, ensuring best practice standards.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients on cost, schedule, risks, and delivery strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder and alliance relationships.
  • Produce clear, insightful monthly reports (programme, financials, risk).
  • Drive effective communication and collaboration across project teams.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to add value and improve delivery outcomes.

About you

  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a degree in a related discipline and practical experience of Civil Engineering or Structures projects.
  • A professional qualification such as (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE or a professional Project Management Qualification.
  • Practical experience of managing transportation projects.
  • Experience working with key clients such as local authorities or major Contractors and Developers.
  • NEC 4 Project Management Accreditation or demonstratable experience managing NEC 4 Projects.
  • Experience of bidding and winning work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines.
  • Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types. This will include an ability to manage stakeholders, e.g. specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
