Senior Project Manager (Electrical)
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Our client is a fast-growing and ambitious Electrical Contracting Business.
This company specializes in delivering high-quality commercial, industrial, and high-end residential projects across the region.
As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead their project delivery team. This is a hands-on leadership role that offers the opportunity to make a real impact within a successful SME, taking ownership of projects from handover through to final account.
The Role:
As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple electrical installation projects valued between £50,000 and £500,000+, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Working across both the office and project sites, you'll play a key role in planning, problem-solving, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
- Manage multiple electrical installation projects from handover to completion.
- Develop and maintain project programmes using Gantt charts or MS Project.
- Coordinate site supervisors, electricians, apprentices, and specialist subcontractors.
- Plan procurement activities and manage material deliveries to meet programme requirements.
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues to maintain programme.

Commercial Management:
- Take full responsibility for the financial performance of your projects.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, valuations, and cash flow.
- Identify, price, and negotiate project variations.
- Approve subcontractor payments and manage final account negotiations.
- Work closely with estimating and accounts to maximize project profitability.
Client & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, main contractors, consultants, and design teams.
- Attend progress meetings and provide clear project updates.
- Build long-term client relationships that generate repeat business.
- Resolve technical and commercial issues professionally and efficiently.
Health, Safety & Quality:
- Ensure all projects comply with current Health & Safety legislation and BS7671 regulations.
- Produce, review, and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Carry out regular site inspections and safety audits.
- Promote a positive safety culture across all project teams.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a growing business where no two days are the same. You'll be equally comfortable reviewing project costs in the office as you are supporting teams on site and solving problems first-hand.
You will have:
- Over 5 years' experience managing electrical installation projects.
- A background within the electrical contracting industry.
- Previous experience as a qualified electrician (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2391 or similar) or an Electrical Engineering background is highly desirable.
- SMSTS certification.
- ECS/CSCS Black Manager Card.
- Strong knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.

- PRINCE2, APM, or equivalent project management qualification.
