The Smart Grid Operations department oversees:
- Strategic projects aligned with RIIO regulations
- Telecommunications, Radio Tele switch Service (RTS), and network operations
- Transformation initiatives, including a major Telecommunications Transformation programme
This position will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Lead the Telecommunications Transformation programme
- Take ownership of other major capital projects post-delivery
- Develop methodologies and governance frameworks for future projects
Responsibilities
- Project lifecycle management: Oversee projects from initial development to successful close-out, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering contractually defined outputs.
- Risk & issue management: Proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve project risks and challenges to maintain delivery timelines.
- Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with internal teams (PMO, Finance, Operations) and external stakeholders to drive engagement and high standards of customer service.
- Financial & procurement oversight: Manage capit Daly Projekt|expenditure forecasts and ensure compliance with contracts and financial benchmarks.
- Regulatory & performance enhancement: Drive efficiencies, innovation, and value engineering to outperform regulatory targets.
- Programme & asset management: Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules and asset data in accordance with company policies and timelines.
- Knowledge sharing: Conduct post-project reviews, capture lessons learned, and promote best practices across the organisation.
- Support leadership: Assist the Head of Smart Grid Operations, Smart Grid Operations PMO, and Telecommunications Manager in programme delivery.

Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven success leading major programmes/transformations in a comparable sector (e.g. Energy, Telecommunications, Utilities).
- Experience in Telecommunications transformation programmes is highly advantageous.
- Strong foundation in project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2) and certifications (e.g. PMP, MSP) are desirable.
- Demonstrable expertise in:
- Project risk, budget, and financial control
- Procurement & contract management
- Quality assurance processes
- Health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Leadership and people management skills are critical.
- Ability to solve complex challenges efficiently and implement process optimisation initiatives.

- Self-motivation and resilience in fast-paced environments.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills for collaboration and cross-functional leadership.
