Assistant to Principal Project Managers (Infrastructure) London £35,000 – £85,000

A leading London consultancy is expanding, seeking Assistant to Principal Project Managers across levels to deliver high-profile built environment projects.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to engage in the full project lifecycle—from initial concept and design through to construction and delivery. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you’ll represent the firm on:

  • Water infrastructure
  • Energy projects
  • Aviation developments
  • Broad built environment schemes

About the Role

As a Principal-level Project Manager, your core responsibility is to lead small-scale projects or critical workstreams, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery while maintaining quality and client satisfaction. Key activities include:

  • Managing day-to-day programme execution
  • Coordinating internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Supporting clients in achieving programme, cost, and quality goals

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project workflows, tracking progress against programme, cost, and quality targets
  • Collaborate actively with clients, stakeholders, and technical teams (e.g., engineers, architects, contractors)
  • Develop and refine planning, procurement, and delivery strategies
  • Monitor and mitigate risks across schedules and performance benchmarks
  • Contribute to governance by producing reports, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance

For Senior/Principal positions, you’ll additionally:

  • Take full leadership of complex infrastructure programmes
  • Direct cross-functional teams and client-facing relationships
  • Deliver high-impact solutions under tight deadlines

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Degree qualification relevant to construction, civil engineering, or project management
  • Experience:
    • 3–8 years at Project Manager level (specific to infrastructure/built environment)
    • Consultancy no-obligation previous experience preferred
  • Professional Bodies:
    • Working towards APM, RICS, ICE, CIOB, or similar chartered status
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional problem-solving and processes
    • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement
    • Practical, delivery-focused mind-set

Leadership (Senior/Principal)

  • Proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure programmes
  • Ability to drive teams and decision-making at all levels
