Senior Project Manager – Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Global Operations
As Project Manager in Freshfields’ high-impact Marketing and Business Development (MBD) Global Operations team, you’ll drive transformative programmes at the core of our global client strategy. Leading ambitious ideas across boundaries and hierarchies, you’ll deliver scalable, impactful change that shapes how we win and retain business globally.

MBD is a dynamic global team of business development specialists, research analysts, brand strategists, marketers and communications experts. We define our client experience and shape Freshfields’ global reputation—while our Global Operations function ensures we have the tools, processes, and infrastructure to deliver at our best. The Role
We’re seeking a seasoned Project Manager to lead complex cross-functional transformation initiatives, aligning with our client strategy, business development, and marketing workstreams. From initiating projects to post-launch review, you’ll collaborate with MBD leadership, IT, data teams, change specialists, and senior stakeholders to translate business imperatives into scalable, practical solutions. This role demands rigorous delivery discipline and interpersonal confidence—rewarding those who thrive in a fast-moving, high-stakes global environment while gaining strategic visibility within the firm.
What You’ll Do
- Lead end-to-end transformation projects for MBD, from scoping and planning to implementation and handover
- Establish and maintain project governance, milestone tracking, RAID logs, and high-level reporting for executive sponsors
- Partner with MBD, IT, and specialist teams to define requirements, challenge assumptions, and shape process improvements that enhance business development and user experience
- Align technical and business workstreams, ensuring decisions, dependencies, and actions are transparently communicated and managed
- Support process redesign and change adoption, embedding new workflows to maximise ROI from technology investments
- Lead vendor and technology discovery, including market assessments, evaluation frameworks, and Proof of Value (PoV) exercises
- Oversee the MBD project portfolio, ensuring _resource prioritisation and capacity planning across concurrent initiatives
- Contribute to continuous improvement in MBD Global Operations by refining delivery methodologies, governance standards, and collaborative documentation

What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Proven experience delivering transformation or technology-driven projects in a complex, matrixed organisation
- Strong project management expertise, covering:
- Planning, governance, RAID management, reporting
- Stakeholder engagement (including senior teams and cross-functional groups)
- Hands-on experience with enterprise technology platforms and translating business requirements into practical delivery plans
- Excellent communication and facilitator skills, with confidence to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-team alignment
- Sharp organisational abilities, managing multiple priorities with precision and maintaining momentum under pressure
- A pragmatic, solution-focused mindset; collaborative problem-solving with sound judgement in fast-paced environments
- Solid grasp of change management principles and strategies for driving adoption of new tools, processes or workflows
- Degree-level education or a relevant project management qualification (or equivalent experience at scale)
- Familiarity with business development, client relationship management, or marketing operations to collaborate effectively with senior BD stakeholders

Desirable
- Experience in a legal, professional services, or global partnership context
- Hands-on expertise with CRM platforms, particularly Salesforce and ancillary tools (Foundation, Power BI)
- Track record of managing change and adoption across large, distributed teams
