Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager is the primary point of contact between the customer and Nexer, accountable for the successful end-to-end delivery of assigned projects. The role owns the delivery of agreed Statements of Work (SoW), ensuring effective governance, stakeholder engagement, communication, and control throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsible for overall project performance, the Senior Project Manager ensures delivery is aligned to scope, schedule, quality, and budget objectives while maximising project profitability, optimising resource utilisation, minimising non-chargeable effort, and safeguarding Nexer’s reputation for delivery excellence.
The role applies Nexer’s project governance framework to maintain effective planning, reporting, financial management, risk control, and delivery assurance. In addition, the Senior Project Manager contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, supporting the development and adoption of best practices across Nexer’s project management methodology, governance, and delivery processes.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Project Manager include:

Project Delivery Leadership
- Own full lifecycle delivery (initiation → planning → execution → closure)
- Ensure delivery aligns with the agreed Scope of Work (SoW), timelines, and milestones

Governance & Compliance
- Apply Nexer PMO governance standards and methodologies
- Maintain accurate project controls (plans, risks, issues, change requests)
- Ensure adherence to internal processes such as timesheet approvals, cost tracking, and invoicing readiness
- Manage project stage gate approval process

Commercial & Financial Management
- Manage project budgets, cost-to-complete (CTC), and profitability
- Ensure all chargeable work is properly tracked and invoiced
- Control non-chargeable work through formal approval processes

Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary client interface
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Regular progress reviews and weekly progress status reports, providing clear, regular reporting on status, risks, and financials

Team Leadership
- Lead cross-functional delivery teams (consultants, SMEs, delivery leads)
- Align team activity with project plans and assigned tasks
- Ensure clarity of responsibilities and effective communication

Planning & Performance Management
- Maintain detailed project plans and track progress against them
- Use delivery data (e.g., timesheets, task updates) to monitor performance and forecast outcomes
- Obtain the commitment of resources from management at each stage of the project
- Maintain the high-quality forecasts of resource requirements for assigned Projects
Skills and Experience
Project Management
- Good education background, preferably to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of structured project management methodologies
- Strong planning and time management skills
- Manages project budget, including timely and accurate invoicing
- Ability to communicate complex ideas simply
- Manages day-to-day operational aspects of project and scope
- Determined to identify solutions and prepared to overcome obstacles to follow through plans to completion
Experience
- 8+ years of experience
- Previous experience of managing projects with ongoing development requirements
- Has managed multiple concurrent projects
- Experienced user of Microsoft Project or other recognised planning tool
- Experience of Project Online (preferred)
- Has worked in a software supplier environment – ERP
- Understanding of ERP systems
- Management of budgets, commercial acumen and broad business perspective
- Exposure at senior management levels
- Responsibility for or involvement in, business improvement programmes

Technical
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft D365 preferred
- Knowledge of hardware infrastructure and implementations
- Experience of Azure DevOps

Working Approach
- Willing to travel to Customer sites anywhere in the UK (and potentially abroad)
- Driving license
Education
- Good education background, preferably to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline
- Formal training in Project Management. PRINCE2 certification/Sure Step (Success by Design) or accreditation or equivalent preferred but not essential
