The Role: Infrastructure Project Manager
At a Glance
As a Project Manager in our Infrastructure Portfolio, you’ll drive the successful delivery of high-impact, multi-disciplinary projects. This is a chance to shape critical infrastructure,-uplift communities, and push the boundaries of environmental and water sector innovation.
Why it matters: Your work directly contributes to £88bn AMP8 Water Company investments and mission-critical programmes for the Environment Agency, including flood risk management, climate resilience, and environmental protection.
What You’ll Do
You’ll partner with project teams, stakeholders, and clients—collaboratively delivering diverse initiatives across:
- Water sector projects (Southeast, Southwest, London, Midlands)
- Environmental initiatives for government bodies (e.g., Environment Agency)
- Commissioned programmes aligned with national priorities
Key Responsibilities:
- Support project teams in delivering complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects to budget, schedule, and quality targets.
- UK’s NEC Contract Suite (Professional Services Contracts, *ECC), contract administration, risk and quality assurance.
- Ensure client satisfaction across:
- Stakeholder engagement, H&S compliance, risk management
- Time-sensitive progress reporting and schedule adherence
- Quality control and cost effective delivery
- Work closely with subcontractors and resources remotely from the core team.
- Build strong relationships with clients, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership.
- Champion a collaborative, client-focused culture while aligning delivery with AECOM’s global standards.
- Actively engage in client-facing roles, including meeting leadership and providing actionable insights and proactive project updates.

What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
✅ Infrastructure project management experience (preferably with Water and/or Environment sector). ✅ Proficient in NEC4 ECC contracts (Proven practical experience with hire, variation processes etc.). ✅ Collaborative mindset—thrives in an integrated multi-discipline environment. ✅ Excellent communication skills for client-facing and internal stakeholder engagement. ✅ IT-literate, familiar with current digital workplace tools (AECOM platforms: Primo, SharePoint, Agile project management tools).

- Balanced competency across risk administration, quality assurance, and commercial management within NEC4 ECC framework.
- Collaborative leadership—ability to engage peers and lead cross-team delivery.
- Dedicated attention to costs, schedule adherence, and blended quality objectives.
- Experience proactively managing risks and issues for complex multi-environment project portfolios.
