Senior Project Manager - Macro Network Segmentation Project
Assignment type: 6 month contract (outside IR35)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a strategic Macro Network Segmentation Project across a complex enterprise environment. The successful contractor will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the migration of business applications into designated network security zones, implementation of firewall policy changes, and management of dependencies across multiple concurrent transformation projects.
This role requires strong stakeholder management, technical project delivery experience, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams spanning infrastructure, cybersecurity, application owners, architecture, operations, and third-party suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead end-to-end delivery of the Macro Network Segmentation Project, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity, regulatory, and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, critical paths, RAID logs, and governance reporting.
- Manage project budgets, resource plans, delivery schedules, and project risks.
- Establish and oversee project governance structures, steering committees, and stakeholder forums.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Network Segmentation & Security Zone Migration
- Coordinate the migration of applications, services, and infrastructure components into defined network security zones.
- Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Network Engineering, Security Architecture, and Application Owners to define migration approaches and implementation plans.
- Ensure application connectivity requirements are identified, documented, tested, and validated throughout migration activities.
- Manage transition planning, cutover activities, and post-migration stabilisation.
- Oversee business readiness and stakeholder engagement throughout migration phases.

Firewall Policy & Connectivity Management
- Oversee the identification, assessment, approval, and implementation of firewall rule changes required to support segmented network architectures.
- Coordinate firewall rule reviews, dependency mapping, and connectivity testing activities.
- Ensure security controls are implemented in accordance with organisational security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support risk-based decision-making regarding firewall exceptions and temporary access requirements.
- Work with operational and support teams to ensure sustainable support models are established following implementation.
Dependency & Change Management
- Identify and actively manage dependencies across major technology transformation projects, including infrastructure refresh, cybersecurity initiatives and application modernisation projects.
- Facilitate cross-project planning and issue resolution to minimise delivery conflicts and business disruption.
- Coordinate activities across multiple project teams and external suppliers to maintain delivery objectives.
- Manage project interdependencies, risks, assumptions, and constraints to ensure successful delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business stakeholders, technical teams, security leadership, and third-party vendors.
- Provide regular reporting on project status, risks, issues, dependencies, milestones, and delivery performance.
- Drive decision-making and escalation management where required to maintain delivery timelines.
- Present project updates and recommendations to governance boards and executive stakeholders.
Risk & Governance
- Maintain project-level risk and issue registers, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Ensure all changes are managed through established change control and governance processes.
- Support audit, compliance, and security assurance activities related to network segmentation and access control.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained and governance requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Success Measures
- Successful delivery of the Macro Network Segmentation Project within agreed scope, budget, and timeline.
- Successful migration of applications into designated network security zones with minimal business disruption.
- Effective implementation of firewall policies and network security controls.
- Successful management of project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Achievement of cybersecurity, compliance, and operational resilience objectives.
- Positive stakeholder engagement and adoption of project outcomes.
