Senior Project Manager (PO) - District Heating Projects – Home (London)

Power On, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group, seeks a Senior Project Manager (PO) to drive mission-critical work: “earning customer loyalty and driving business growth through consistently excellent service.”
Purpose of the Role
As a core member of the District Heating delivery team, reporting to the Head of Delivery – Heat, you will ensure the safe, compliant, and successful delivery of a portfolio of district energy projects. Your remit extends beyond timelines and budgets to delivering seamless transitions to Operations & Maintenance alongside exemplary customer service.
Core Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Coordination
- Lead, inspire, and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team (engineers, suppliers, contractors, and Project Managers).
- Hold line management responsibility for Project Managers, steering their performance, delivery, and development.
- Coach and uplift Project Managers across the portfolio, driving consistency and best practices.

Project Oversight
- Safeguard milestones, programmes, and project compliance—on-time, on-budget, and at required cost, quality, and performance standards.
- Step in as leadership for complex, high-risk, or underperforming projects.
- Ensure effective project close-out, with lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion health and safety culture, CDM compliance, and Heat Network Regulations oversight.

Audit & Compliance
- Oversee audits, inspections, and safety performance to protect quality and conformance.

Commercial & Governance Leadership
- Own portfolio commercial performance, including budget management, CVR forecasting, cost-to-complete accuracy, and margin protection.
- Develop, negotiate, and manage contracts, handling change management and compensation events.
- Risk mitigation: oversee issues, opportunities, and financial exposure.

Design & Execution
- Direct the design and build of:
- Energy centres
- Distribution pipe networks
- Hydro Heat Units (HIU) installations and connections
- Ensure quality through installation, commissioning, and handover.

Qualifications
- Degree or HND in Engineering, Energy, or a related discipline (international equivalents accepted).
- APM project management qualification (or similar).
Experience & Knowledge
- Proven District energy/heat network expertise, particularly in low-carbon heat technologies.
- Full project lifecycle management, balancing commercial, financial, and technical rigour.

- Handling multi-stakeholder environments.
- Heat network regulations, standards, and industry best practice.
- Contract management, from negotiation to administration.
Abilities & Skills
- Leadership: Decisive, strategic, capable of driving high-performing teams.
- Communication: Exceptional reporting and stakeholder engagement to influence at all levels.
- Commercial Acumen: Sharp focus on cost controls, forecasting, and margin optimisation.
- Project Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Risk & Problem-Solving: Rapid analysis of priorities, deadlines, and high-pressure scenarios.
- Technical Precision: Detail-oriented, with visualisation of quality and regulatory adherence.
