Senior Project Manager - Technology

Job Description The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly. We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract and looking for a Senior Project Manager with a strong project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver the complex highways schemes throughout their whole project lifecycle. Schemes range in value from £50k to £3m+. This role will also involve direct line management of project managers, assistant project managers and early careers. Other requirements also include the successful delivery of the programme of works on time and to budget. DIMENSIONS Financial: Varies depending on size of project(s) Organisational: The role has direct reports INTERFACES Internal: Portfolio Manager, Construction Manager, Commercial Team, Design Team, Asset Team External: Connect Plus, National Highways, supply chain, local authorities, road users, statutory bodies, Client and Framework Community ACCOUNTABILITIES Key responsibilities / duties: · Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Portfolio Manager, and key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects’ delivery objectives, to report on and review project performance, and to agree solutions to issues. · Maintaining compliance with the DBFO contract clarifying roles and responsibilities within your team, resolving risks and issues in a timely manner, producing timely and accurate reports, and creating and maintaining specified records including change management. · Identify and evaluate emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate. Where necessary develop, agree, and implement solutions to overcome these. · Global or master programme maintenance for whole portfolios · Portfolio income and cost profiles, overseeing and challenging the Project Managers input. · Client liaison on a project and portfolio level · Chairing and driving regular project reviews to ensure the following are current and accurate: - Project and programme risk register - Certificate submissions register - Programmes and progress against the milestone dates - Project income and cost forecast (review of PM profiles) - Project change - Project priorities (for resource allocation) - Correspondence and queries through Aconex · Project change control and reviewing processes and procedures · Allocation of projects to PMs based on appropriate knowledge, experience, ability, and capability (workload) · To operate in the capacity of the Portfolio Manager in their absence Working arrangements (shift work, need for travel etc) · Ability and willingness to travel to other offices and depots on the network as and when required · Periodic requirement for site visits (night shift) · Full Driving License Qualifications Qualifications/ skills: · Experience in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience · Experience and good understanding of Roadside technology · Project Management skills, preferably supported by recognised PM qualification, APM, PRINCE2 etc. · Preference of minimum HNC / HND (or equivalent) in a civil engineering or other construction-based discipline. · Broad knowledge and understanding of other design areas. · Understanding of Environmental requirements of schemes · Experience of coordinating interfaces with design teams and external resources · Understanding of H&S Requirements related to highway construction & maintenance works. · Knowledge of H&S legislation · Knowledgeable and competent in exercising the duties under CDM · Team leadership and management experience in driving performance and productivity · Strong communication and stakeholder management skills · Strong customer focus with a service delivery mindset · Commercial understanding and budgetary control experience · Understanding of Lean principles Personal Attributes: · Proactive problem solving · Excellent communication skills · Strong safety management culture · Self-aware and adaptable style to meet varying project needs · Resilient · Presentation skills · Team building skills · Ability to prioritise and self-manage · Ability to coach and manage other team members · Ability to develop relationships and engender trust · Strong collaboration skills Experience: · Experience at a senior level in the delivery of highways construction & maintenance operations or similar transferable experience · Previous experience in a similar role with demonstrable competence in relation to the majority of the responsibilities listed above. · Experience of managing projects through complete lifecycle Additional Information Equality, Diversity & Inclusion We are an Equal Opportunities employer and we strive to build a workforce that truly reflects the communities we represent.
