AECOM has been appointed to Flood Risk and Asset Management (FRAM) Lots, the first under the UK Government Commercial Agency’s Construction Professional Services 2 (CPS2) Framework. This extends our 25-year partnership with the Environment Agency, providing technical, environmental, and commercial/programme expertise in flood and coastal risk management.

Our team will support the Environment Agency in delivering their record investment programme, mitigating flood risks, and executing projects that protect communities and benefit the environment.

Role Overview

We are seeking Senior Project Managers and Associate Project Managers with a track record in the Water industry to join our Infrastructure Project Management team, working on FRAM projects across our South East and Anglia Region.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will work with Seniors, Associates, and Project Directors to coordinate, manage, and deliver water-related projects across the entire lifecycle:

  • Inception and planning
  • Design and procurement
  • On-site delivery and commissioning

** Key Responsibilities**

Core Duties

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver multi-disciplinary, complex projects collaboratively.
  • Provide mentorship to Project Managers, Graduates, and Apprentices.
  • Establish governance frameworks, defining roles, responsibilities, and accountability across projects.
  • Offer client-side project management expertise, including stakeholder, H&S, risk, quality, schedule, and contract management.
  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of projects to meet client expectations for cost, time, and performance.
  • Manage project teams, resources, and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Build strong client relationships and support new business development opportunities.
  • Lead bid submissions for project management opportunities.

** Qualifications & Experience**

Essential Criteria

  • Water industry experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC), with NEC ECC accreditation being advantageous.
  • Experience working in integrated, multi-organisation teams.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, a growing professional network.
  • Relationship-building capabilities to foster client and stakeholder trust.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other Senior Project Managers and Associates.
  • Team-player mindset, focusing on problem-solving, flexibility, diplomacy, patience, respectfulness, and positivity.
  • Experience within a client-oriented environment, including business development (direct or co-location roles).
  • Proficient in digital tools and IT systems.
  • Strong numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience preparing bid submissions.
  • Effective client relationship management skills, both Internally and externally.
  • Supervisory/team leadership experience with clear leadership qualities.

Professional Qualifications & Education

  • Preferably a degree in project management, engineering, environmental science, construction, or related fields.
  • Project management qualifications (e.g., APM PMQ or PRINCE2) or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, CIOB, ICE, RICS) would be desirable.
  • Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contract management.
