Project Scheduler – Dematic
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised Project Scheduler to create and maintain project schedules, collaborating with project managers, project teams, and subcontractors to set tasks and monitor execution against project timelines.
Your role will be critical in:
- Evaluating actual progress against planned forecasts
- Applying earned value principles
- Identifying remedial actions
- Exploiting opportunities to improve project performance
You will also prepare project reports and support accurate forecasting.
To succeed in this position, you must possess transferable industry knowledge (automation, oil & gas, construction) and demonstrable experience in project scheduling. An engineering background is preferred to grasp basic automation concepts.
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop and generate project schedules in alignment with Dematic standards and best practices, ensuring the right level of detail. Ensure sequencing and task assignment are optimised.
- Collect and challenge progress data from project teams (including subcontractors, factory orders, and customers) to maintain a real-time, accurate schedule. Ensure monitoring and reporting remains effective.
- Proactively identify delays and propose mitigation strategies to the project manager. Conduct hours-spent vs. progress analysis to refine earned value models and enhance schedule and financial forecasting accuracy.
- Multiplier project performance through continuous schedule analysis, aiming for schedule/margin improvements or risk reduction.
- Analyse schedule variations to support extensions of time and defend/create change orders between Dematic and suppliers/customers, ensuring clear documentation for internal/external claims. Improve accuracy of project standards on solutions and installations.
- Raise project delivery maturity by participating in PMO improvement initiatives, contributing to tooling and standard template development.
- Actively engage with the Project Management community, assisting Project Managers with scheduling support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
