Job Title: Senior Psychometrician
Salary: £48,100 - £64,375 per annum
Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid
Contract: Full time, Permanent

We are looking for a Senior Psychometrician to join our world-class team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of English language assessment. Through our Assessment for Cambridge English (ACE) programme, we are transforming how assessments are delivered - creating flexible, scalable and digital solutions that support learners and partners worldwide.
Working across the Cambridge ecosystem, you will help deliver scalable, modular assessment products and composable systems architecture, ensuring validity, reliability, and compliance across high-stakes testing programmes. Your work will be critical to enabling faster, smarter, and more adaptive assessment solutions for learners worldwide.
About The Role
As a Senior Psychometrician, you will design, develop, and apply psychometric methods that enable the delivery of high-quality, operational assessment systems. You will play a central role in translating theory into practical solutions that are scalable, efficient, and fit for modern digital assessment:
As part of this role, you will:
- Design, implement and evaluate psychometric processes for calibration, equating, marking quality assurance, and validation of tests.
- Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and technology teams to integrate psychometric solutions into digital platforms, and ensure their effective operationalisation.
- Develop approaches to monitor the effective performance of psychometric processes and contribute to validation frameworks.
Your contribution will be critical to our transformation whilst ensuring our assessments remain robust, scalable and aligned with regulatory and quality expectations.
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.

About You
As a Senior Psychometrician, you will bring strong experience in applying psychometric methods within operational contexts, alongside a passion for solving complex assessment challenges.
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Considerable knowledge of a range of psychometric models and statistical programming skills (e.g. R, Python, SAS).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate theoretical methods into practical solutions.
- The ability to apply your specialist expertise in new contexts and acquiring new skills to tackle emerging challenges.
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to lead through influence across diverse teams.
- Experience contributing to or leading defined workstreams or projects.
