Reports To: Head of Communications/PR Director
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Public and Press Relations Executive to manage and enhance our organization’s public image and communications strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in media relations, strategic communication, and brand messaging, and will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with the media and other stakeholders. This is a senior-level position that requires exceptional writing, communication, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive press coverage.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and pitch materials.
- Respond to media inquiries and coordinate media interviews with company spokespeople.
Strategic Planning & Messaging
- Work with senior leadership to develop and execute PR strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Establish and maintain a clear and consistent voice for the brand across all communication channels.
- Provide strategic counsel to executives on media interactions and public appearances.
Crisis Management
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans and manage communication during sensitive or critical situations.
- Act as the company’s spokesperson during a crisis, providing clear, timely, and accurate information to the media.

Content Creation & Editing
- Write press releases, articles, speeches, blog posts, op-eds, articles, and other communication materials as needed.
- Oversee the creation of compelling, media-friendly content, ensuring alignment with objectives.
Event Management & Public Speaking
- Plan and coordinate press events, conferences, and other public relations activities.
- Represent the organization at industry events, media interviews, and public speaking engagements.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track media coverage and report on the effectiveness of PR campaigns and media outreach.
- Analyze trends in media coverage and public opinion to adapt strategies and improve outcomes.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor junior PR team members, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Collaborate with marketing, social media, and other internal teams to ensure cohesive and effective communication strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in public relations, with a focus on media relations and corporate communications.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful PR campaigns and securing positive media coverage.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Strong media relationships with local, national, and trade press.
- Experience in crisis communication and handling sensitive issues.
- Proficiency in media monitoring tools, PR analytics, and reporting software.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership experience and the ability to mentor and collaborate with teams.

Preferred Skills
- Experience in [industry-specific knowledge, e.g., govt, political parties, tech, healthcare, consumer goods, etc.].
- Understanding of digital PR and social media strategy.
- Multilingual skills are a plus.
