We are seeking to employ a Senior Public Health Design Engineer to be based in our London office.
Hilson Moran are interdisciplinary consultants, engineers and advisors, applying progressive design thinking to shape the environments we live in. We provide a full range of engineering services, exciting innovation and design solutions on a full range of projects from across our network of offices in the UK.
Our recently refurbished London office – the Living Lab – offers a direct link to clients, the ability to further develop our existing relationships and to pursue future opportunities across the city. We also have full view of some of our most iconic designs, including 20 Fenchurch Street ‘the Walkie Talkie’ and 30 St Mary’s Axe ‘The Gherkin’ from our river café space.
We are currently seeking an exceptional Senior Public Health Design Engineer to be based in our London office.
As an experienced professional who ideally holds professional accreditation or is actively pursuing it, you will bring a broad portfolio demonstrating your expertise and capabilities.
You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects. Your project range will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.
The key area of this role is to support project delivery in providing public health design engineering services to a varied client base. Projects will be varied from complex high value large commercial, fit-out and refurbishments to minor schemes.
You will need to be both a team player working within a multidiscipline group assisting other senior engineers along with helping and encouraging the graduate members and have the initiative to work alone. You will monitor the quality control on projects to ensure the company quality standards are being achieved, prepare calculations /specifications and drawings, ensuring they comply with the clients brief.

Your Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Support project delivery in providing public health design engineering services to a varied client base. Projects will be varied from complex high value large commercial, fit-out and refurbishments to minor schemes.
- Support coordination and ensuring they are delivered to the highest technical standards.
- Monitor the quality control on projects to ensure the company quality standards are being achieved, prepare calculations /specifications and drawings, ensuring they comply with the clients’ brief.
- Produce or assist in developing fee proposals and presentations.
- Prepare calculations, specifications and drawings to ensure they are appropriate and comply with the client brief.

We’d like to hear from you if you have
Background & Qualifications
- Relevant qualification(s) in Building Services Engineering Design.
- Strong software skills, being a chartered engineer and having professional membership of SoPHE are desirable.
- Experience in Public Health Design Engineering, including domestic hot and cold water services, soil, waste and rainwater drainage, and above and below ground drainage.
- Experience of rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling, solar hot water and innovative design would be an advantage.
- Experience in commercial (new build, refurbishments and fit out), residential and mixed-use developments from concept, scheme and detailed design.
- In-depth knowledge of Building Services Engineering Systems including their performance, application and operation.
Skills
- Proactive, adaptable, and approachable engineer with excellent client-facing and communication skills at all levels, and able to take initiative.
- Strong teamwork skills — able to work within a multidisciplinary group, support senior engineers, assist and mentor graduates, and also work independently when required.
