Senior PR Manager

Location: Liverpool
Salary: £Competitive
Contract Type: Perm
Position Type: Full Time – 35 hours

As Senior PR Manager, you will be responsible for shaping, protecting and enhancing the reputation of Bond Turner and the wider Anexo Group brands, across national, regional, legal, business and consumer media. Working closely with the Group Head of Marketing, senior leadership team and external PR agency, you will develop and deliver a comprehensive communications and reputation strategy that positions Bond Turner as a leading voice in legal services, claimant litigation and access to justice, while also supporting the growth, visibility and reputation of CAMS, DAMS, EDGE and McAMS.

Key responsibilities

PR strategy and reputation management

  • Build and establish an in-house PR function capable of reducing reliance on external agencies over time
  • Lead the firm's reputation management programme, ensuring consistent messaging across all audiences and channels
  • Help define and refine Bond Turner's market positioning, strategic narrative and industry reputation
  • Develop clear messaging frameworks and positioning statements that articulate who we are, what we stand for and how we differentiate ourselves from competitors
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Bond Turner's standing within the legal sector, business community, public affairs landscape and wider consumer market
  • Develop long-term plans to enhance the firm's profile through thought leadership, commentary, speaking opportunities, awards, rankings and strategic partnerships
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive PR, communications and reputation strategy aligned to Bond Turner's and the wider Anexo Group's growth ambitions and business objectives
  • Develop brand-specific PR strategies for CAMS, DAMS, EDGE and McAMS, ensuring each brand has a clear reputation-building roadmap aligned to its commercial objectives and target audiences
  • Prioritise PR activity for Bond Turner and CAMS in the early stages of the role, while establishing scalable frameworks that can be rolled out across all Group brands

Media relations and press management

  • Identify and secure media opportunities that raise the profile of Bond Turner, CAMS, DAMS, EDGE and McAMS across relevant trade, regional, business and consumer media
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, legal, consumer and business journalists
  • Create and maintain a targeted media network aligned to key practice areas and strategic priorities
  • Proactively identify opportunities for coverage and secure high-quality media placements across print, digital, broadcast and podcast platforms
  • Develop media campaigns that support Bond Turner's campaigner positioning, legal expertise and commitment to client outcomes

Agency management

  • Act as the primary senior contact for the firm's retained PR agency
  • Set clear objectives, performance measures and expectations
  • Challenge constructively and hold agency partners accountable for delivery, creativity and results
  • Review activity, coverage quality, journalist engagement and return on investment
  • Ensure agency activity aligns with wider business priorities and brand objectives
  • Identify areas where internal capability should be developed alongside agency support

Thought leadership and brand development

  • Work closely with the Group Head of Marketing and senior leadership teams to define the voice, personality and public profile of Bond Turner and the wider Anexo Group brands
  • Develop thought leadership programmes and media positioning strategies for key stakeholders across Bond Turner, CAMS, DAMS, EDGE and McAMS
  • Identify opportunities to position Bond Turner as a leading authority
  • Develop thought leadership programmes for lawyers, directors and senior stakeholders
  • Create structured content plans that support expertise-led positioning across earned, owned and shared channels
  • Identify opportunities for industry recognition, rankings, awards and legal directories where these support strategic business objectives
  • Provide recommendations on where resources should be invested to maximise reputation and market credibility

Campaigns, social media and digital integration

  • Partner with marketing, digital and social media teams to create integrated campaigns that drive both reputation and commercial outcomes
  • Ensure PR activity is amplified effectively across social media, website content, video, email and digital channels
  • Support the development of campaigns that combine media coverage, social engagement and thought leadership activity
  • Ensure messaging remains consistent across all external channels

Internal storytelling and employee advocacy

  • To work closely with and manage the Internal Communications Manager to:
    • Develop a strong pipeline of internal and external stories
    • Create systems and processes that help uncover stories from every area of the business from colleague achievements and client success stories to business growth and award wins
    • Support employee advocacy and leadership visibility initiatives
    • Help create a culture where positive stories are regularly identified, shared and amplified
    • Maximise the value of existing ambassador relationships, including high-profile ambassadors
    • Develop structured plans to increase visibility, media opportunities, content creation and community engagement through ambassador programmes.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen Bond Turner's connection to communities, charities, sporting organisations and strategic partners
    • Support campaigns that reinforce the firm's commitment to access to justice, rehabilitation, client care and community impact

Crisis communications & reputation management

  • Develop crisis communication and escalation frameworks
  • Provide strategic advice on sensitive issues and high-profile matters
  • Lead reputation management for complex legal cases
  • Prepare spokespeople for challenging media situations
  • Monitor risks and implement mitigation plans
  • Protect and strengthen the firm's reputation during periods of change

Stakeholder & leadership engagement

  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders
  • Advise partners, directors and lawyers on media and reputation opportunities
  • Deliver media training and communications coaching
  • Provide expert guidance on reputation, positioning and external communications
  • Offer constructive challenge and best-practice recommendations
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across all Anexo Group businesses to identify PR opportunities, develop brand narratives and support reputation-building initiatives

Team leadership

  • Manage and develop the Internal Communications Manager
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing communications culture
  • Support capability building and best practice across the wider team

Measurement & performance

  • Define and track PR and reputation KPIs, including:
    • Share of voice
    • Media quality
    • Reputation and sentiment
    • Message penetration
    • Journalist engagement
    • Thought leadership visibility
    • Campaign performance
  • Provide reporting and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
  • Identify opportunities to improve impact and performance
  • Monitor and report on PR performance, brand visibility and reputation metrics across Bond Turner and all Anexo Group brands, providing strategic recommendations for growth and improvement

Experience required

Essential

  • 8 - 10+ years' experience in public relations, communications or reputation management
  • Proven experience developing and leading successful PR programmes
  • Experience building or significantly transforming PR functions
  • Strong track record securing national, regional and trade media coverage
  • Experience managing agency relationships and holding external partners accountable
  • Experience developing senior stakeholder thought leadership programmes
  • Demonstrable success in media relations and journalist engagement
  • Experience handling sensitive, high-profile or reputationally complex issues
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams
  • Strong understanding of integrated communications across PR, digital, social media and content

Desirable

  • Experience within legal services, professional services or a highly regulated industry
  • Corporate reputation and brand strategy experience
  • Public affairs or policy engagement experience
  • Experience supporting litigation-related communications
  • Crisis communications leadership experience
  • Experience managing teams and developing communications professionals
