Senior Public Sector Bid Writer (£70-£75K Basic) Plus Bonus & Benefits

Senior Public Sector Bid Writer – Role Overview Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Public Sector Bid Writer to expand its UK Public Sector portfolio. This is a full-time position primarily responsible for:

  • Developing high-quality, compliant, and high-scoring bid responses across tender submission types (ITTs, SQs, PQQs, RFIs, RFPs, and framework submissions).
  • Supporting growth by shaping business, commercial, financial, delivery, and technical content into customer-focused, resonant narratives.
  • Leading process improvements through bid standards, accountability, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bid Excellence & Strategic Direction

    • Lead the formulation of compelling bid responses aligned with evaluation criteria and scoring models.
    • Define response strategy, structure, and win themes based on tender analysis.
    • Own content quality through systematic review cycles to ensure submission readiness.
  • Centralised Bid Content & Knowledge Management

    • Establish and maintain a reusable bid content repository (case studies, templates, standard responses).
    • Capture and dissect feedback, lessons learned, and performance data for mitigation and improvements.

  • Professional Rigour & Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
    • Translate complex input (commercial, finance, legal, technical) into evaluation-crushing narratives.
    • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and subject-matter experts (SMEs) to enhance bids.
    • Challenge and mobilise contributors to internal deadlines and quality standards.
    • Track bid metrics (win/loss ratios, trends, feedback) and optimise future performance.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven bid experience within the UK public sector (5+ years in business development or bid writing).
  • Deep knowledge of UK public procurement processes, including evaluation methodologies.
  • Strong ability to deconstruct technical/scored content into simpler, persuasive frames.
  • Proven track record of working with stakeholders across commercial, legal, delivery, and technical disciplines.
  • Ruthless deadline management under high-stakes multi-bid workloads.

Desirable

  • Public Sector frameworks bid experience (GHG, Cubed, EU tenders, etc.).
  • Background in tech/digital transformation, ICM, procurement consulting, or contracting.
  • Prior hands-on experience with centralised bid libraries or knowledge management systems.
