Rexroth is one of the world’s leading specialists in the field of drive and control technologies. Under the brand name of Rexroth the company supplies customers with tailored solutions for driving, controlling and moving industrial applications, factory automation equipment, mobile applications and renewable power generation.
At our plant in Glenrothes, Scotland we design, develop and produce radial piston motors working in partnership with world renowned international OEM’s in industries such as material handling, construction and forestry machinery.
Job Description
We're looking for a Senior Purchasing Engineer to join our organization in Glenrothes, United Kingdom. In this role, you will drive procurement excellence by managing complex purchasing operations, optimizing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. You will combine technical engineering knowledge with strategic procurement expertise to support our operational objectives and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals while maintaining quality standards and cost efficiency
- Analyze engineering specifications and technical requirements to identify optimal suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and pricing
- Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluation, contract administration, and resolution of supply chain issues
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and market research to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure procurement decisions support product requirements and timelines
- Utilize ERP and procurement systems to manage purchase orders, track inventory, and generate analytical reports
- Evaluate supplier proposals and conduct competitive bidding processes to ensure value for money
- Monitor supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity
- Lead cross-functional projects to streamline procurement processes and implement best practices
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with demonstrated progression to a senior level
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering specifications, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Proven expertise in supplier relationship management and contract negotiation
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software platforms
- Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to identify trends and opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Experience with cost analysis, budgeting, and financial forecasting
- Knowledge of quality assurance standards and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
- Background in strategic sourcing and risk management
- Familiarity with supply chain optimization tools and techniques
