Senior Python Developer

Department: Cyber Services and Capabilities Location: GBR Manchester, Hardman Boulevard

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join NCC Group’s GMS division as a Senior Python Developer, working on mission-critical Cyber Security-related products and services. You will play a core role in designing, delivering, and supporting high-quality software solutions using Python, cloud, and serverless technologies while contributing to a global team through efficient software development following CI/CD best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, high-quality Python-based applications with a focus on functionality and performance
  • Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Developers, UX, QA, DevOps, Cloud Architecture) to define project requirements
  • Conduct code reviews, ensure quality, and uphold code quality metrics through a test-first approach
  • Troubleshoot and debug code to maintain smooth software operation
  • Optimize performance and test solutions for efficiency and reliability
  • Maintain technical documentation for clarity and team accessibility

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Behaviours & Requirements (Essential)

  • Commitment to client and customer focus, collaboration, and continued learning
  • Employability in a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ proven experience as a Python Developer
  • Familiarity with:
    • Serverless architectures
    • Azure Architecture and REST APIs
    • Databases & SQL
    • Secure Software Development practices
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Full-stack Python development expertise
  • Experience with cloud architectures and infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
  • Agile Development & CI/CD practices
  • Knowledge of Microservices and modern development frameworks
  • Test-first and TDD (Test-Driven Development) methodologies
