Senior Python Engineer
Watford (Hybrid/Flexible Working Available)
Up to £75,000 + Benefits
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Watford. You'll play a key role in designing, building, and scaling high-performance applications that power critical business functions and customer experiences.
This is an opportunity to work on challenging technical problems, influence architectural decisions, mentor developers, and help shape the future of our technology platform.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Python applications and services
- Building robust APIs and microservices architectures
- Writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Collaborating closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering teams
- Driving best practices in software engineering, code quality, and performance
- Participating in architecture reviews and technical decision-making
- Identifying and implementing improvements to systems, processes, and tooling
- Supporting cloud-native deployments and infrastructure automation

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Professional Python development experience (5+ years)
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and engineering principles
- Experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask
- Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs and distributed systems
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
- Strong testing experience (PyTest, unit, integration, and automated testing)
- Experience with Git and modern CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with Azure

Desirable
- Docker and Kubernetes experience
- Experience with AWS, or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and message queues
- Exposure to data engineering, machine learning, or AI platforms
- Experience leading technical projects or mentoring engineers
