Job Title: Senior Python Engineer, Wallet
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Python Engineer, Wallet based in United Kingdom.
We are seeking a highly skilled backend engineer to join a team responsible for building and maintaining critical financial and transactional services within a large-scale gaming platform.
This role focuses on developing reliable, high-performance systems that support wallets, payments, transactions, and complex business workflows.
You will take ownership of backend features from architecture and implementation through deployment and production support.
The position offers the opportunity to work on scalable solutions, solve challenging engineering problems, and contribute to product innovation.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, international environment where engineering quality and reliability are key priorities.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Python developer to have a direct impact on systems used by a growing global user base.
Accountabilities:
- Own the complete lifecycle of backend features, including technical design, development, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Django, including asynchronous components when required.
- Develop reliable systems supporting critical workflows such as wallets, transactions, payments, settlements, and other high-impact backend services.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests to improve system reliability, prevent regressions, and strengthen testing practices.
- Estimate development efforts for new features, improvements, and long-term technical initiatives.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to engineering standards, and support architectural and technical decision-making.
- Help maintain high availability and performance through effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and participation in on-call rotations.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with Python as a primary programming language.
- Strong experience building production-grade backend systems using Django and asynchronous Python technologies such as asyncio.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and software engineering fundamentals.
- Proven experience designing architectures for highly scalable and high-load applications.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including complex SQL queries, schema design, migrations, and performance optimization.
- Experience using Redis for caching, state management, and distributed system optimization.
- Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and implementation to deployment and application monitoring.
- Experience writing automated tests, improving test coverage, and defining testing strategies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to participate in on-call support rotations.
- Nice-to-have experience with Go, Apache Kafka, large-scale systems supporting 1M+ users, or experience in sports, gaming, or betting-related industries.
