Senior Python Software Engineer
Location: London (City)
Working Pattern: 5 days a week in the office
We're partnering with a leading proprietary trading firm that is making multiple senior engineering hires as part of a significant greenfield technology programme.
This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative engineering team where you'll design, build and own business-critical applications used directly by front-office trading teams. You'll work closely with traders from day one, helping shape solutions that have a tangible impact on the business.
This role is ideal for experienced engineers who enjoy taking ownership, influencing technical direction and building software from the ground up.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and developing scalable Python applications for front-office users.
- Owning projects from architecture through to production and ongoing enhancement.
- Partnering directly with traders and business stakeholders to understand problems and deliver innovative solutions.
- Driving engineering best practices, code quality and technical decision-making.
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to the continued growth of a high-performing team.

What we're looking for
- Extensive commercial experience developing software in Python.
- Proven experience designing and delivering complex software solutions.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices.
- Confident working directly with business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
- Previous trading or financial markets experience is advantageous but not essential. We're keen to speak with exceptional engineers from technology-led organisations who are excited by the challenge of applying their skills in a front-office trading environment.
