Senior Python Software Engineer

Location: London (City)
Working Pattern: 5 days a week in the office

We're partnering with a leading proprietary trading firm that is making multiple senior engineering hires as part of a significant greenfield technology programme.

This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative engineering team where you'll design, build and own business-critical applications used directly by front-office trading teams. You'll work closely with traders from day one, helping shape solutions that have a tangible impact on the business.

This role is ideal for experienced engineers who enjoy taking ownership, influencing technical direction and building software from the ground up.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and developing scalable Python applications for front-office users.
  • Owning projects from architecture through to production and ongoing enhancement.
  • Partnering directly with traders and business stakeholders to understand problems and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Driving engineering best practices, code quality and technical decision-making.
  • Mentoring engineers and contributing to the continued growth of a high-performing team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
