Job Opportunity: Senior Python Software Engineer/Open-Source Contributor
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Python Software Engineer/Open-Source Contributor based in United Kingdom.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to widely adopted open-source developer tools that are shaping the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning accessibility. In this role, you will design and build high-impact Python frameworks and developer platforms used by millions of engineers and researchers worldwide. Working in a highly collaborative and distributed environment, you will have the freedom to tackle evolving technical challenges, engage with vibrant open-source communities, and influence the direction of products that empower AI innovation. The position is ideal for engineers who are passionate about open source, developer experience, and building scalable tools that make advanced technologies more accessible to everyone.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain core features for large-scale Python frameworks and developer platforms focused on machine learning applications.
- Architect scalable, reliable, and user-friendly software solutions that serve as foundational tools for developers and AI practitioners.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external open-source contributors through code reviews, technical discussions, and community engagement.
- Contribute to the evolution of developer tools and frameworks, adapting to changing technologies and emerging industry needs.
- Integrate modern frontend technologies to deliver intuitive and seamless web experiences for Python-based applications.
- Participate in technical decision-making, helping define best practices and long-term architectural strategies.
- Support and foster open-source ecosystems by actively engaging with community feedback and contributions.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Python software development.
- Strong expertise in architecting and maintaining complex Python frameworks, libraries, or large-scale software projects.
- Professional experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Svelte, or similar technologies.
- Proven experience contributing to, maintaining, or leading open-source software initiatives.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including scalability, testing, performance optimization, and developer experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote and globally distributed environment.
- Passion for artificial intelligence, machine learning technologies, and making advanced tools accessible to broader communities.
- Adaptable mindset and willingness to take on evolving responsibilities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
