Job Description: QA Engineer – Test Automation & AI-Driven QA
Job Purpose
As a critical member of the Technology Group, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of the ICE Digital Trade Platform (IDT)—a cloud-based system designed to digitise, automate, and streamline global trade and post-trade processes. The platform manages the full lifecycle of digital trade documents across various applications, including API services.
In this role, you will:
- Ensure the quality and reliability of the IDT platform through test automation, certification testing, client onboarding, production support, and stakeholder communication.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, product teams, support staff, and external vendors in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate awareness of emerging AI-driven QA methodologies and proactively explore opportunities to integrate them into testing frameworks and workflows to enhance efficiency, coverage, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Analyse business/system requirements and database schemas.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases.
- Perform functional, integration, and regression testing, with a focus on APIs.
- Write and execute SQL queries for data validation.
- Utilise CI/CD tools, version control (Git), and automation frameworks.
- Respond to client API queries and support client onboarding.
- Log and track defects; coordinate client-side testing.
- Contribute to internal monitoring tools and scripting.
- Stay informed about environment changes and deploy applications as needed.
- Collaborate with QA leads on complex testing strategies.
- Develop and deliver well-written test plans and summaries.
- Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and agentic AI workflows to:
- Accelerate test authoring, maintenance, failure triage, and defect analysis.
- Review AI-generated output for correctness and quality.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years in QA, with a focus on test planning and automation.
- Strong knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, and XML.
- Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Postman, ReadyAPI, or JMeter.
- Experience with SDLC, QA methodologies, and scripting (e.g., Python).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Hands-on experience with Git, Jenkins, ALM, and test automation frameworks.
- Ability to thrive in a highly demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently and autonomously to deliver results.
- A practical understanding of AI/ML-based testing tools and frameworks, allowing you to integrate them into CI/CD pipelines to optimise automation and defect detection.
- Strong hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to:
- Generate, refactor, and maintain automated test code.
- Apply sound judgement on when AI assistance is and is not appropriate.
- Working knowledge of agentic AI concepts, including autonomous, multi-step AI agents, and prompt engineering—applied to test generation, log analysis, and exploratory testing.

Nice to Have
- Experience with JavaScript and Cypress for front-end testing.
- Hands-on experience in performance testing for APIs and GUIs, identifying bottlenecks to ensure optimal response times.
- Experience designing or orchestrating agentic AI workflows (e.g., Claude Code subagents) for:
- Test automation
- Self-healing tests
- Document/PDF validation
